  • Brief description
  • OpenMED is an open access archive for Medical and Allied Sciences providing self-archiving facility to the medical researchers.
  • Vision, Objectives and Goals
  • Objective is to encourage self-archiving culture amongst medical professionals in the India. The goal is to preserve valuable research publications for future medical researchers and side by side publicize research being conducted in the country. This has archived information on Tuberculosis from India and on other health topics.

With the increase of tuberculosis in urban areas, the archived information on this disease would give an insight to the history of management of TB. This archived information dates from 1952 onwards and one can see how the treatment modes evolved over the years. The latest information on the disease can be found from the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis available on the sister site medIND (http://medind.nic.in) which provides full-text from 38 peer reviewed Indian biomedical journals. The information gathered here would help in better management of tuberculosis.

  • OpenMED is an open access archive for Medical and Allied Sciences. Here authors / owners can self-archive their scientific and technical documents. For this they need to register once in order to obtain a user id in OpenMED system. However no registration is required for searching the archive or viewing the documents. OpenMED is a discipline based International Archive. It accepts both published and unpublished documents having relevance to research in Medical and Allied Sciences including Bio-Medical, Medical Informatics, Dental, Nursing and Pharmaceutical Sciences. These could be preprints (pre-refereed journal paper), postprints (refereed journal paper), conference papers, conference posters, presentations, technical reports/departmental working papers and theses. In case of non-English documents, descriptive data [Author, Title, Source etc.], abstract and keywords must be in English. Submitted documents will be placed into the submission buffer and would become part of OpenMED archive on their acceptance.

Presently this archive is serving as a repository to journals and institutions (in India) and also as a knowledge repository for research scholars who can archive their theses. OpenMED is a knowledge repository for medical and allied sciences (including animal sciences). It serves as a platform for researchers to preseve their research publications and be available to the present and future generations of researchers.
