'schoolweb.se'

  • Brief description
  • A couple of interactive environmental ideas for teachers and students of different levels; with a minimum of equipment they can do investigations, analyse and take samples in nature and then get ideas about the 'health' of  nature.
  • Vision, Objectives and Goals
  • One objective of 'schoolweb.se' is to link students and teachers all over the planet in the production of a common electronic educational material. Another objective is to raise the public awareness of the health of nature,  regionally, nationally and globally. Special attention has been paid to 'schoolweb.se' by educators all over the planet and the contents of 'schoolweb.se' are used in several classrooms. "The topics discussed are relevant to us" as one student said "we need to know what is happening and how to do something about it".
  • How does ICT contribute to the organisational objectives
  • schoolweb.se enhances a more student-centred learning.

The website provides students with instructions on how to conduct research in an ecosystem, facilities the sharing of data by allowing students to submit their results to a database and provides access to information about other area around the world. The text is offered in several different languages

  • Transferability
  • Educators, students, institutions and environmental organisations throughout the world talk about 'schoolweb.se' and have made comments about the website.  Many schools use projects or just sections of 'schoolweb.se' in  their classrooms or outdoors.  The just print out what they want (a manual or a specific instruction). It can be used by all ages, in many languages and in many subjects and for lifelong learning.
  • Project summary
  • Pedagogic idea Students and teachers open the Internet-site of Woodland Network, they read about the project and follow a program of research. They copy the method of project and make an investigation of a woodland area nearby. They look at the state or health of the forest and bring some samples back to school for complementary analyses. They publish their results (reporting by mail to a database) and get a feed-back, which means they have access to information about their own woodland area and other school-investigations around the globe, from earlier years up to present times. This information is also available for schools which don’t make any investigation. The project is without costs for participating schools, it’s free to use and No passwords needed.
