  • How does ICT contribute to the organisational objectives
  • “School and peace” is a triangle: peace, development and democracy, an interactive triangle where the vertexes reinforce themselves, allowing the transition from individual condition to the citizen condition making the difference in the society, looking forward the truth and contributing to rural communities. Colombia, specifically the Colombian countryside, is an excluded country and is because of that exclusion that the violence appears, that is way the country is living this conflict that concerns us all. To find solutions, it is indispensable for all of us to be in the process of looking for better scenarios. We do not wait for peace; we build it, and the ICTs constitute a great opportunity for boys, girls, and rural youth to become effective voices, to overcome their fear, the indifference, the immobility of rural and native communities, to comprehend, develop and cooperate with the political processes, looking forward a healthy coexistence and a democratic participation. There is a network development with the ICTs; this improves the fundamental relationships of mutual respect and human rights, creating motivations that encourage the whole community to react to the different ways of violence and to break their silence. “School and peace” has created a dynamic and interactive network managed by kids, men and women, on the support of the Human Rights struggle against exclusion. They favor the construction of a non sexist identity, identify sex exclusion in mass media and publicity as something that has to be revaluated; they develop the necessary communicational abilities to learn trough the dialogue and the discussion. Trough the website, these people connect to their classmates no matter the geographical location, religion, or genre, allowing them to work together, understand each other and keep themselves involved with peace and the pacific solution of conflicts.
  • Transferability
  • The project is completely transferable to other educative communities. It is documented and can be used with no restriction. Besides, the concept is easy to manage and does not demands complex technological requirements. Any institution can develop it at any time, it only needs to register in the website if “School and Peace” and participate in the actions. We are convinced that education is the best tool to initiate a real PEACE culture. Everyone is invited.
