Learning Experience - an initiativ to change lives of underpriivilged society using ICT4D

- a multi-purpose learning center aiming to provide underprivileged children access to information technology so that they are able to explore more and better options for their life
- Vision, Objectives and Goals
- To bridge the digital divide between the privileged and underprivileged, especially children & youth, the stakeholders of the future and to focus on enabling awareness, expression of views and development of linkages at the individual or at the institutional level. At the conceptual level, the Centre is uniquely a partnership between institutions, research groups and some voluntary organization.Objectives are :- . Provide creative space to underprivileged children for realisation of their full potential.2. Provide underprivileged children with a window of opportunities so that they are able to cope better in today’s competitive world.3. Develop the personality of children so that they are able to realise their potential and gain self- confidence4. Provide linkages to optimise the full potential of children through guidance and facilitationThe Goals of the Habitat Learning Centre(HLC) is to generate employment by creating space for underprivileged children/youth.
- How does ICT contribute to the organisational objectives
- Using ICT as a tool the Centre has been able to bring these sections of the society in normal streamline. With the discussions of ICT, which has not been experienced by targetted group, HLC aspires to open a global horizon to these underprivileged children/youth's mind. Through ICT they are developing their facination into a learning process. The more the number taht imbibes this to experience, either through HLC or through its Learning Extension Centres in different vicinity of NGOs, the hopes of our founders are served. This is the journey of the HLC along with its constituency and HLC stays committed to it.

- Project summary
- The HLC is the social wing of the India Habitat Centre (IHC). This project helps to reach those who dont have an access to advance world of technology. In addition the Centre is a Resource Centre for civil society intiatives. HLC has been experimenting in the field of ICT for developmentand is a multip purpose learning centre and is focused at creating a knowledge society for the disadvantaged section of the society. the initative has made learning easier through interactive and interesting software for school dropouts and they have showed interest in getting back to the formal system of education and has helped school going children to perform better. In urban area most required and effective implementation of ICT for development is in education & employment and our project continuously stiriving towards this goal.
