E-Marketing for Women Entrpreneurs

  • Brief description
  • To help women entrepreneurs market and sell their products through the web
  • Vision, Objectives and Goals
  • To empower women economically specially those living in rural area
  • How does ICT contribute to the organisational objectives
  • Our objective is to increse the percentage of women entrepreneurs so that women would contribute to the Egyptian economy. One of the main obstecles for women entrepreneurs is to market their products. Therefoe we started the e-marketing project to help women entrepreneurs reach out to local and international market. We started the site as an e-catalogue for women entrepreneurs to exhibit their products. Women entrepreneurs liked the adea of using ICT to develop their promotional material and requested that a further step should be taken to use the web site to sell their products. Now we established ICT unit within the WBDC to develop promotional materials for women entrepreneurs, to develop and  maitain the e-marketing web siye and to provide ICT ttraining for women entrepreneurs. Using ICT in marketing resulted in more sales locally and internationally for women entrepreneurs and encouraged more women to use ICT as an effective an effecitve tool in their business

  • Transferability
  • What we are doing can be replicated by small private group, as a matter fact some entrepreurs after completing their training are having small business to market some products, Also the Arab women organisation which is under the Arab League is looking into replicating our project for arab women
  • Project summary
  • The project is established to serve the needs of women entrepreneurs and fresh graduates throughout Egypt and equip them with the capabilities to enhance their contribution to national economy. It has 3 categories of technical training, programs for workforce development to female graduates, capacity building for working woman and tailored entrepreneurial skills for existing or potential women entrepreneurs. It was found the ICT is one of the most important skills that they lack and is required in the Egyptian labor market. Therefore an extensive training program in ICT was designed for and more than 1000 women received training in that area. Through our work with women entrepreneurs it was  found that a good number of them produce special good quality products with a relatively high potential for export, but they are not able to master effective marketing capabilities, particularly by making use of the advanced IT technologies.  The project established a website to     provide assistance to women entrepreneurs to market their products (www.cleostore.com). It includes different categories of products and services provided by women entrepreneurs and NGO's from different parts of Egypt
