Cookery-book à la Blåkulla
- Brief description
- A cookery-book on the web created by the inhabitants of Hagalund (Blåkulla), favouring democracy, fighting isolation and developing knowledge of language and IT.
- Vision, Objectives and Goals
- Our idea was to give the people in Hagalund possibilities to be creative and to strengthen their feeling of togetherness. We wanted to break down isolation and the language barrier by using computers and to give them possibility to grow personally within a group. We encouraged the ordinary person to take part in the community life in Hagalund.
- How does ICT contribute to the organisational objectives
Using ICT make everybody more able to give other people the possibility to take part of all aims and thoughts that came up in the cookery-book context.
- Transferability
- This project could be realised in any multicultural area anywhere in the world. The cookery-book is an excellent platform for people to meet disregarding to barriers. To cook and eat together create natural positive atmosphere. The culturally mixed society offers food variety. A true richness to take care of. The cookery-book on the web could be extended with recepies from other culturally mixed areas, there are no limits.
- Project summary
- A huge need for better knowledge of Swedish as well as IT was obvious. Many of the residents lack means to pay for ordinary courses. Apart from the cookery-book activities more than 90 study circles/courses have been arranged involving approximately 500 inhabitants. The activities grew during its course, in the beginning there was no way of seeing the exact direction but the advantages of a web based cookery-book became more and more clear. The idea was ingenious and the way of working profoundly democratic everybody was welcomed...diplomatic wives mixed with illiterates, retired people with youngsters, everybody was given a chance, disregarding origin, religion, nationality, politics, gender or knowledge. People were not met by bureaucracy. Many immigrants were waiting for their residency permits, an awesome wait and they were happy to have something to distract their mind....
